Sunset is in the south-central area of Vancouver bordered by East 41^st Avenue, Ontario Street, Knight Street and down to the Fraser River. It was one of the earliest communities to be settled in the Vancouver area and the families came to the north arm of the Fraser River to log, fish and farm.

Being a culturally varied neighbourhood with a hub for Indo-Canadians, it is home to the working class with single family houses and apartments. Fraser Street and Main Streets both have colourful, independently owned stores and restaurants with the Punjabi Market occupying 6 blocks on Main Street, starting at East 49^th Avenue being the focal point for Vancouver’s Indo-Canadian community.
